Sweet Potato Tacos

There's a resturant around town that makes an awesome vegetarian taco. My family and I found that we were wanting to eat these all the time. At around $2.50 a taco I knew we better try to make them to save some money in our pockets. It was not really hard to find out how to make them. Pinterest has everything. The only thing I had to decide was to whether learn how to make Pico De Gallo from scratch or buy it in the store. So with the start of making my own Pico my family has came up with a sweet potato soft shell taco, to us it is awesome and cheaper on the pocket book.

Sweet Potatoes
Soft shell tacos
guacamole
Pico de Gallo
Sour Cream
Refreid beans

To make these wonderful tacos you bake your sweet potatoes until they are soft and ready to eat. The smaller the sweet potato the better. But don't worry if you have a big sweet potato you can still use it.
Once the sweet potatoes are done you are ready to make your tacos.
I like my soft taco shells warmed so I throw them in the oven for just a few minutes.
Once my taco shell is warmed. I place the sweet potato with the skin taken off in the shell. If your sweet potato is big you can cut it in half. On top of the sweet potato add refried beans. Then add guacamole, pico de gallo and sour cream.
Eat and enjoy.

My First Time With Fake Eyelashes

It has never crossed my mind to wear fake eyelashes, not even when I was competing in pageants.  I have always used mascara to plum up my lashes and it always seemed to work for me.  I have never had the urge to wear fake eyelashes before until I received a pair of Kiss Looks So Natural Lashes from Influenster in the Jadore Vox Box that I received.  So over the weekend I tested out wearing them. For someone who had never put on fake lashes it took me several tries to get the first lash on. But the second one went on within seconds. If you never have worn fake eyelashes theres not much you have to do. You just need to trim the lashes to fit your upper eye lid. The end of the of lashes were to long for my eyes so I had to trim the lash part for the inner corner of my eyes only and I also had to trim the length of the lashes to fit my eyelids. Once all the fitting and trimming was done, it only took me seconds to to have beautiful full eyelids. You just need to take the glue and glue the bottom portion of the lashes, the glue needs to be placed on the back line of the lashes. Make sure you have the lashes turned the correct way, unless you are looking for that upside down look.  Once the lashes were on me, I did not feel them at all. My eyelashes looked so full and natural. My husband even told me they looked really nice on me and that they looked very natural. I loved them. I would diffently think about using them again for special occasions or for a photo session. Have you ever used any of the Kiss products? If you have I would love to hear about it.

Look how natural and full my eyelashes look.

The sole purpose of receiving the Jadore Vox Box is for testing purposes only.

Cheesy Crescent Rolls

I

A heart shaped crescent roll filled with cheese is a great way to bring some valentine fun for lunch or supper. Cheesy crescent rolls dipped in spaghetti sauce is my daughters favorite lunch. The possibility of design for a cheese filled crescent is endless. Dough can be shaped into almost anything. There are pictures on how to make cheesy crescent rolls below. As for directions on how to make the heart, I don't have pictures but have good written directions below.

There's really not much you need to make delicious cheesy bread. You only need a few ingredients and most people already have them in their home.

1 can crescent rolls
3 cheese sticks
Garlic powder
Spaghetti sauce or pizza sauce

Preheat your oven per the package on the crescent rolls. When oven is preheated unwrap the cheese sticks and place them in the microwave. Heat the cheese for just a few seconds until the cheese is soft. You don't want it bubbly. I did 15 secs then another around of 15 secs. The reason why you want your cheese to be soft, is so that it turns soft and stringy in the bread. The first time I cooked these, I did not soften my cheese and the cheese was not soft and melty inside the crescent. Once the cheese is soft break the cheese sticks into 3 pieces. Then roll the cheese up to make the crescent roll. Sprinkle on some garlic powder. Use the cook time on the package. I cooked mine on a stone, so I left mine in the oven for 15 mins. Everyones oven is different, just watch them to make sure they don't burn.
To make the heart shape crescent you use the same steps as above. Except when it is time to roll the cheese up, then you need to split the cheese in half long ways. Place the strips in the bread. Place one strip at top and the other at the bottom. Shape the bread into a heart. I pushed the bread around to make a bottom for the cheese to set around as I was shaping the heart. Sprinkle garlic on the heart.  Then bake just like above. When the bread comes out of the oven use a butter knife to make a crease between the humps at the top of the heart. Making the heart may sound hard but it is really easy.

When you are ready to eat, place some sauce on the side and make it a dip. You could also use a garlic spread on the top of the bread and to dip the bread in if you like. These are also good served at parties and as snacks. What type of Valentine day foods do you make? Do you have any good Valentine recipes you would like to share? I would love to have you as a guest here on the Nifty Thrifty Family blog.
