Great Wolf Lodge

Kid Cabin Review

Being the saver that I am. I came across this awesome deal thru Groupon. This was my first time ever buying a Groupon. I get the emails, but just never found a deal that made me jump to buy. Until I found the deal for the Great wolf Lodge in Mason Ohio. The Groupon had several options / pricing to choose from. We went with option 3: one night stay for up to 7 in a kid cabin with a $50 restaurant credit.

The Great Wolf Lodge is a very neat place to stay. The building and the rooms are very rustic. It is a place you could stay for days with out leaving. They have a small bowling alley, arcade, spa for adults, even a spa for kids, a game called Magi Quest and that's not including the very big water park. There is also three places to dine at, not including the snack bar inside the water park.

One thing I found when researching this trip, was that there is not really true pictures of what the rooms inside the hotel look like. The website gives a layout of the design and some pics. But to me I thought it was not enough. So I took lots of pictures for everyone on what a Kid Cabin room really looks like.

This is what the cabin looked like. I tried to get the pictures before the girls took over, but I was to late.

Bottom Bunk

Top Bunk

The day bed. To me it looked like a twin bed.

The rest of the room was a basic room. I liked the decor.

I was shocked that there was not a flat screen. This hotel needs updated T.V's.
I have a thing about bags being on the floor or on a bed in a hotel. So all bags had to go on the table or the dresser.

The bathroom was a bathroom nothing special about it.
I thought the light looked rustic.

This light also made the room feel like a lodge.

I don't think the price of the Kid Cabin is worth paying full price. It is just a room. At the end of the day when your kids get out of the water park, eat supper, they are so ready for bed. I thought our girls would be wired with it being their first over night stay together out of town. They barely got their baths, ate their supper and as soon as their heads hit their pillow they were out. They did not even fight over the top bunk. That's how tired these little ones were.

Our trip was awesome. We loved the water park and when another great deal comes open, I will jump at the opportunity to stay at this wonderful hotel again. The room was comfortable. There was five of us and we all slept very comfortably. We even had the fire place going and it was nice.

Please note that I was not paid to write this review or was not paid to stay at the Great Wolf Lodge. All opinions expressed was by the Nifty Thrifty Mom.

How I spent Mother's Day

I hope everyone had a Happy Mother's Day. I had a wonderful day. I was bummed that I did not get to see my mother, but I get to spend the whole weekend with her soon. My husband and daughter really spoiled me this Mother's Day. I received flowers to plant in the yard. Don't the look pretty.

They were exactly what I wanted. I can tell the ones my daughter picked out. She is a big fan of pink.
Since it was my day, I got to chose what we did. So I decided I wanted to spend Mother's Day at Churchill Downs. Ever since my daughter watched the Derby race on TV and learned about horse racing in her preschool class, she has been asking to go see the horses. It was a beautiful day and I wanted my daughter to experience what a horse race is like in person.
I think we had very good seats. I have to thank one of my good friends for that. We got there after the second race and it was a little crowded. My wonderful friend saved us some seats.

Here is the horses when they turned the last turn and headed down the straight stretch.

This was my daughters pick to win one of the races. She actually picked the #3 horse, but when I went to place the bet, I messed up on the number. So we got to cheer on the #7 horse. Needless to say both the 7 and the 3 horse did not get first, second or third.
Here is some more pictures of the horses being brought out. There is some beautiful horses out there.

Here's my daughter looking thru her binoculars. She had so much fun watching the races and the parade of horses.

For it to be Mother's Day the race track was packed.

Thanks to my wonderful friend who had a family member working at the track as an outrider. We met up with her family member and my daughter got to pet a horse. It was not one of the race horses, but who cares it was a horse.

We had a wonderful day at the race track. If you have never been to Churchill Downs, it is something beautiful to see and worth going to.
So my gifts did not end there. Last night my husband moved all of my daughters toys from her playroom to her new playroom in our basement. He worked so hard. My daughter has so many toys you could not see the floor in her playroom and they were spilling out into the hallway. That was the best gift anyone could give me, because I thought I was going to have to move all those toys.
Well that was my Mother's Day. I am very blessed to have a wonderful family. I would love to hear about your Mother's Day.
