A heart shaped crescent roll filled with cheese is a great way to bring some valentine fun for lunch or supper. Cheesy crescent rolls dipped in spaghetti sauce is my daughters favorite lunch. The possibility of design for a cheese filled crescent is endless. Dough can be shaped into almost anything. There are pictures on how to make cheesy crescent rolls below. As for directions on how to make the heart, I don't have pictures but have good written directions below.
There's really not much you need to make delicious cheesy bread. You only need a few ingredients and most people already have them in their home.
1 can crescent rolls
3 cheese sticks
Garlic powder
Spaghetti sauce or pizza sauce
Preheat your oven per the package on the crescent rolls. When oven is preheated unwrap the cheese sticks and place them in the microwave. Heat the cheese for just a few seconds until the cheese is soft. You don't want it bubbly. I did 15 secs then another around of 15 secs. The reason why you want your cheese to be soft, is so that it turns soft and stringy in the bread. The first time I cooked these, I did not soften my cheese and the cheese was not soft and melty inside the crescent. Once the cheese is soft break the cheese sticks into 3 pieces. Then roll the cheese up to make the crescent roll. Sprinkle on some garlic powder. Use the cook time on the package. I cooked mine on a stone, so I left mine in the oven for 15 mins. Everyones oven is different, just watch them to make sure they don't burn.
To make the heart shape crescent you use the same steps as above. Except when it is time to roll the cheese up, then you need to split the cheese in half long ways. Place the strips in the bread. Place one strip at top and the other at the bottom. Shape the bread into a heart. I pushed the bread around to make a bottom for the cheese to set around as I was shaping the heart. Sprinkle garlic on the heart. Then bake just like above. When the bread comes out of the oven use a butter knife to make a crease between the humps at the top of the heart. Making the heart may sound hard but it is really easy.
When you are ready to eat, place some sauce on the side and make it a dip. You could also use a garlic spread on the top of the bread and to dip the bread in if you like. These are also good served at parties and as snacks. What type of Valentine day foods do you make? Do you have any good Valentine recipes you would like to share?
